Incognito is aptly named, as this intimate 64 seat theatre is hidden away behind a clinic on Holly Park Road, Friern Barnet.
It was converted into a theatre in the late 1940s from an old council building having previously been a fizzy drinks factory, built about 1900.
The theatre has a foyer with a bar, a 64 seat auditorium, a stage, a dedicated lighting and sound control room and a workshop. Upstairs there are two dressing rooms and extensive costume, furniture and props stores. In addition there is an outside seating area which audiences can use in the interval whilst enjoying a drink.
The company puts on six productions of eight performances every year. In addition there are the occasional one or two night events ranging from magic to music hall.
Acting recruits come from audition notices but we also welcome creative people or people handy with tools to build or paint sets, make props, costumes or work on sound and lighting design and operation. We are happy to teach skills if they need to be developed.
Incognito has a Respect Charter, Equal Opportunities Policy and a proud history of training young actors, most notably Sir David Jason who started his distinguished career with us and is also our patron.
